After the 21 year-old Swedish electro sensation blew up in the EDM scene last year, it was only natural for mashup producers (myself included) to take their scalpels to Avicii's inspirational and upbeat club bangers. I had the pleasure of dropping a few this weekend during two Ridgewood Social Club sets at Bourbon and Third Edition, and as you can tell from the picture above, Georgetown was really feeling it. In addition to the multiple bachelorette parties, DJ Eskay scoring some napkin digits/maxing out our bar tab and having one of the Pioneer CDJs fail on me in the middle of a track, a girl came up to the DJ booth to show me the following text message, "youre a fucking awesome dj", so I think you're gonna like these fresh tracks from Mochi Beats, White Panda and Mashup Germany.
If you're in DC this weekend, Basscamp and I will be bringing CAUTION DC to the Black Squirrel on Saturday night (the A/C has been fixed!!!), so stay tuned for the Facebook invite. In other good news, I'm going to be opening for Eskay on a regular basis at Third Edition, so come party with us on the next two Friday nights (8/19 and 8/26) in Georgetown. In even better news (how the hell does it keep coming???), RSC will be kicking off a new Thursday night dance party tradition at everyone's favorite Admo Irish bar, The Blaguard, on September 8th, with guest bartender Scott Leibowitz!!!
