Reggae + Hip-Hop + Acoustic = Aer

There's no doubt in my mind that Aer has the most laid-back vibe of all the new music I've been listening to in 2011, so brace yourself for some calming dub acoustica from the wild lands of Massachusetts. 'Come and Go', the first bonafide single off The Reach, plays like all of my favorite Slightly Stoopid tracks, which is all the more impressive considering that David von Mering and Carter Schultz haven't even graduated from high school.

Last but not least, here are a few quick weekend updates:
- If you're in the DC area this weekend, Harper Blynn is coming to the Iota Club and Cafe in Arlington tonight!
- If indie rock isn't your thing, melt your face off with DJ Basscamp tonight at Jimmy Valentines on H Street.
- I had a great conversation with the fine people over at ReadysetDC this week and will soon start writing features on the District music scene and music-related consumer technology, so if you don't already read the DC social blog, it's officially time to hop on that bandwagon.
