No Sleep Til Brooklyn

I got some big news this week. I was offered position at a new Entertainment/Social Media start-up in Brooklyn, will be moving up this weekend. While saddened to be leaving all of you in DC behind, I'm eager for a new adventure. I'm also excited for the instant music credibility boost that comes with having a Brooklyn mailing address (just kidding).

In honor of this news, I wanted to find a cool NY band to spotlight. This week, I've decided to share a few songs from an awesome 11-piece ensemble from Brooklyn, Emanuel and the Fear. Tune trumps all for the group, as lead singer Emanuel Ayvas's vocals are often overcome by the soaring orchestral blend accompanying him. The backing includes: piano, violin, cello, trumpet, and trombone. Emanuel, etc.'s sound is certainly influenced by everything from Beethoven to The Beatles (circa Sgt. Pepper), boasting complex melodies, that seamlessly transition across a spectrum of emotions.

I've posted three songs below. Vampires is the first single from their upcoming release, Hands. The other two come from their previous LP, Listen.

Vampires by Emanuel and the Fear

Emanuel and the Fear - 'Dear Friend' by Paper Garden Records

Emanuel and the Fear - The Finale by Paper Garden Records

  1. It's nice to see this band getting the attention it deserves. I've been a fan ever since I saw them perform live.
