"Mundian to Bach Ke", aka the original song sampled on Jay-Z's "Indian Nightrider", has become the quintessential Bhangra track in every DJ's library, and there's no doubt in my mind that you probably have the song on at least three playlists. That said, Panjabi MC's newest single "Moorni Balle Balle", off his 2010 album The Raj, has that same party-centric vibe that will keep his music on your ipod until kingdom come. On an entirely different note, with a number of seriously fucked up things going on in Southeast Asia right now, it's always reassuring to know that there are still some incredible cultural products coming out of the region like the salacious sounds of Panjabi MC. And yes, it's Panjabi MC with an 'A', NOT Punjabi.....
